The Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad (CO&G), commonly known as the "Choctaw Route," was a significant American railroad operating in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Initially founded as the Choctaw Coal and Railway Company, it completed its main line from West Memphis, Arkansas, to western Oklahoma by 1900. In 1901, the CO&G established a subsidiary, the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Texas Railroad, to extend its reach into the Texas Panhandle, reaching Amarillo by 1902. After the CO&G's 1895 expansion from McAlester to Oklahoma City via Shawnee, the Tecumseh Railway was incorporated in Oklahoma Territory on August 20, 1896.

The Tecumseh Railway constructed a 5.2-mile segment from a junction near Shawnee to Tecumseh, Oklahoma, which was then the county seat. The Tecumseh Railway had no additional trackage and was acquired by the CO&G on December 12, 1900. In 1902, the CO&G extended the line by 20.2 miles from Tecumseh to Asher, an area known for cotton production and a brief oil boom in the late 1920s. This section, served by the vintage locomotive Old Beck, became part of the CO&G's assets later acquired by the Rock Island Railroad. However, the entire line was abandoned on February 10, 1942.

A bond is a document of title for a loan. Bonds are issued, not only by businesses, but also by national, state or city governments, or other public bodies, or sometimes by individuals. Bonds are a loan to the company or other body. They are normally repayable within a stated period of time. Bonds earn interest at a fixed rate, which must usually be paid by the undertaking regardless of its financial results. A bondholder is a creditor of the undertaking.
