Specimen Stock printed by Security-Columbian United States Banknote Corporation. Vail Resorts, Inc. is a prominent American mountain resort corporation based in Broomfield, Colorado. The organization is structured into divisions that manage and operate 42 mountain resorts across four nations, in addition to hotels, lodging facilities, condominiums, and golf courses that form part of its real estate portfolio. The company was established as Vail Associates Ltd. by Pete Seibert and Earl Eaton in the early 1960s. Eaton, a lifelong local resident, introduced Siebert, a former ski trooper from the WWII 10th Mountain Division, to the area in March 1957. Both individuals worked as ski patrol guides in Aspen, Colorado, where they envisioned discovering the 'next great ski mountain.' Siebert pursued funding, while Eaton was responsible for the initial lift designs. Their Vail ski resort commenced operations in 1962. In 1985, George N. Gillett Jr. acquired Vail Associates, but by 1991, the company faced the threat of bankruptcy.
