Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad (F&PM) was a significant historical railway that operated in Michigan from 1857 until its dissolution in 1899. It was one of three companies that eventually merged to create the Pere Marquette Railway. The F&PM was founded on January 22, 1857, under the name Flint and Pere Marquette Railway, with the aim of constructing an east-west railway line along a federally granted route extending from Flint, Michigan, to Lake Michigan at Pere Marquette, now recognized as Ludington, Michigan. The initial promoters included George M. Dewey and E.H. Hazelton from Flint, with Dewey serving as the first president of the F&PM. Construction began in 1859 in East Saginaw.

In 1860, a more dynamic management team was established when Captain Eber Brock Ward, a prominent lumberman, vessel owner, and steel manufacturer from Detroit, was elected as president. The railway commenced operations on January 20, 1862, covering a distance of 26.1 miles (42.0 km) from East Saginaw to Mount Morris. By December 1864, the F&PM had secured access to Detroit through trackage rights over the Flint and Holly Railroad and the Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
