Green stock certificate printed by Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Co., St. Louis. The Louisiana Purchase Exposition, commonly referred to as the Saint Louis World's Fair, took place in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1904. This exposition marked the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase, an event of significant historical importance, second only to the Declaration of Independence. The acquisition of this territory from France encompassed all land between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains, facilitating the expansion of the United States to the Pacific Ocean.

The Fair commenced on April 30, 1904, and concluded on December 1 of the same year. Spanning 1,200 acres, the site was designed by George Kessler and is now part of Forest Park, making it the largest fair ever held at that time. It featured over 1,500 buildings interconnected by approximately 75 miles of roads and pathways, making it nearly impossible to see all the exhibits in less than a week. The Palace of Agriculture alone occupied around 20 acres. Exhibits were presented by 62 foreign nations, the U.S. government, and 43 of the 45 states, showcasing various industries, cities, private organizations, theater groups, and music schools. Additionally, carnival-style attractions were available on "The Pike." This Exposition stands out as an unparalleled celebration of a centennial, and visiting it remains a cherished memory for individuals of all ages.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
