Stock printed by The Union, San Francisco. Bullfrog vignette! Bullfrog County was an unpopulated county established in the state of Nevada by the Nevada Legislature in 1987. It encompassed an area of 144 square miles (370 km²) surrounding Yucca Mountain, which was enclosed by Nye County, from which it was formed. The county seat was situated in Carson City, the state capital, located 270 miles (430 km) away, and its officials were appointed by the governor instead of being elected. The federal government of the United States had intentions to develop a disposal site for radioactive waste at Yucca Mountain, which was then part of Nye County. Alongside Texas, which had a site in Deaf Smith County, and Washington, home to the Hanford Site, Nevada was one of three states under consideration for such a facility, and it, like the others, opposed the plan vehemently. According to the Nuclear Waste Policy Act, the federal government agreed to provide grants equivalent to taxes to Nye County for the site, circumventing the state government. In reaction, Nevada Assemblyman Paul May proposed AB 756, a bill that designated a 144-square-mile (370 km²) area surrounding the proposed nuclear waste site as a new county, named Bullfrog County. The name was derived from the Bullfrog Mining District in the vicinity, which was named due to the gold ore in the area resembling the color of a bullfrog. An earlier attempt to establish Bullfrog County from southern Nye County occurred in 1909, but the proposal was thwarted by Nye County.
A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
