1 Peso, P-Not Listed (SC-11). Trial note. Rare! Front and back shown. The peso, officially known as the peso convertible, has been the official currency of Argentina since 1992. Its symbol is $, similar to other currencies named peso or dollar. The peso is divided into 100 centavos. The Central Bank of Argentina has issued coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, and 10 pesos, but due to rapid inflation, these coins are no longer in circulation. The same applies to banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 pesos. Although these banknotes are no longer printed, they remain valid. The currency code for the peso is ARS. It replaced the austral at a rate of 10,000 australes to one peso.
