Railroad Stock. Steam Train, Civil War soldier, coat of arms. One of the prettiest American stocks ever! Nearly all unissued. Rare!! The railroad started as the Platte City and Fort Des Moines Railroad Company on 2/12/1864. It changed its name to the Leavenworth and Des Moines Railway Company on 8/3/1867. It changed again to the Chicago and Southwestern Railway Company on 3/3/1869, and then to the Chicago and South Western Railway Company on 5/21/1869. It ultimately became part of the Chicago Rock Island Railroad.
