Stock printed by Jeffries Banknote Co., Los Angeles. Uranium is a chemical element with the symbol U and atomic number 92. It is a silvery-gray metal found in the actinide series of the periodic table. A uranium atom has 92 protons and 92 electrons, with 6 of these being valence electrons. Uranium undergoes radioactive decay, typically by emitting alpha particles. Its isotopes have half-lives ranging from 159,200 years to 4.5 billion years, which makes them valuable for dating geological formations, including the age of the Earth.

The most prevalent isotopes of natural uranium are uranium-238 (which has 146 neutrons and makes up over 99% of natural uranium) and uranium-235 (which has 143 neutrons). Uranium has the highest atomic weight of all naturally occurring elements. Its density is about 70% greater than that of lead and slightly less than that of gold or tungsten. Found in trace amounts in soil, rock, and water, uranium is commercially extracted from minerals like uraninite.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
