Riverside Division Historic District and Dan River Mill No. 8 is recognized as a national historic district situated in Danville, Virginia. This district encompasses 23 contributing buildings and 13 contributing structures within the city. It features edifices and structures linked to the Riverside Division, which is one of the two historic textile mill complexes established in Danville by Dan River Inc. and its predecessor, Riverside Cotton Mills. The buildings and structures are predominantly multistory industrial facilities constructed mainly of brick, with origins dating from the 1880s to the 1910s. Dan River Mill No. 8, a four-story reinforced concrete structure, was erected in the 1920s. It was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, with an expansion of its boundaries occurring in 2010, although it was subsequently delisted in 2016. The Riverside Division, which was the site of the former Riverside Cotton Mills, was developed by T.B. Fitzgerald, the company's long-serving president and founder.
