Eaton Corporation PLC is a multinational power management enterprise based in Ireland, reporting sales of $17.86 billion in 2020. Originally established in the United States, the company has its global headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, along with a secondary administrative office located in Beachwood, Ohio. Eaton employs approximately 92,000 individuals and provides products to clients in over 175 countries. The company's origins trace back to 1911 when Joseph O. Eaton, along with his brother-in-law Henning O. Taube and Viggo V. Torbensen, founded the Torbensen Gear and Axle Co. in Bloomfield, New Jersey. With financial support from Torbensen's mother, the firm was established to produce Torbensen's patented internal-gear truck axle.
In 1914, the company relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, to be nearer to its primary market, the automotive sector. In 1916, the Torbensen Axle Company was incorporated in Ohio, succeeding the New Jersey entity. The following year, Republic Motor Truck Company, which was the largest customer of Torbensen, acquired the company. However, Eaton and Torbensen were dissatisfied and left Republic to establish the Eaton Axle Company in 1919. In 1920, the Eaton Axle Company merged with Standard Parts, which subsequently went into receivership later that year and was eventually liquidated. In 1923, Eaton reacquired the Torbensen Axle Co. from Republic and rebranded it as the Eaton Axle and Spring Company.
Stock and Bond Specimens are made and usually retained by a printer as a record of the contract with a client, generally with manuscript contract notes such as the quantity printed. Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
