General Daniel Edgar Sickles
Signed Check. GENERAL SICKLES, 1825-1914, American soldier and diplomatist, Brigadier General of Volunteers in Sept. 1861. Took part with distinction in the battle of Fredericksburg, and in 1863 as a Major General commander the IL Army Corps. His energy and ability was conspicuous in the disastrous battle of Chancellorsville; and at Gettysburg the part played by his corps in the desperate fighting around the peach orchard was one of the most noteworthy incidents in the battle. He himself lost a leg and his active military career came to an end. CHECK BOLDLY SIGNED BY SICKLES, DATED IN THE 1880'S. EXCELLENT CONDITION. IMPORTANT!!!
