James Ben Ali Haggin (1827-1914), Lawyer, Rancher, Capitalist. He moved to San Francisco in 1850. He formed a partnership with Lloyd Tevis. In mining, he was associated with Senator Hearst of California and with Marcus W. Daly whose holdings in the Anaconda Copper Company Haggin later acquired. He owned or controlled over a hundred mines. Everything Haggin did was done on a large scale. This Dakota territory stock of the "FATHER DE SMET CONSOLIDATED GOLD MINING COMPANY" is signed by J. B. Haggin at the front as President. Dated 1880's. Signature is mostly clear but cancelled. Slight glue residue at left from stub, otherwise very nice condition. Great vignette of Father De Smet preaching to Indians. Location Black Hills, Lawrence Co. Dakota. Quite Rare!
