Specimen Stock printed by American Bank Note Company, New York. The Jersey City, Hoboken, and Rutherford Electric Railway was established in 1893 and was leased to the New Jersey Electric Railway Company from 1894 to 1899. The operation of the line was managed by the Jersey City, Hoboken, and Paterson Street Railway. The total length of the track was 18.57 miles. At that time, the rail line in Hoboken, New Jersey, sparked considerable debate, as officials expressed concerns that the electric railway could pose risks to public safety and potentially startle horses.
