Stock. Theodore Stillman Chapman (March 31, 1849 – December 12, 1914) was a prominent American politician, attorney, and entrepreneur. Born in Becket, Massachusetts, he pursued his education at Colgate University before taking on a teaching position in LaPorte, Indiana. Eventually, he established his residence in Jerseyville, Illinois, where he studied law and gained admission to the Illinois bar in 1874. Chapman engaged in legal practice in Jerseyville and held the position of president at the Jersey State Bank. His political career included serving in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1885 to 1887 as a member of the Republican Party, followed by a term in the Illinois Senate from 1887 to 1891. Additionally, he was appointed as the inaugural commissioner of the Illinois Pure Food Department. Chapman passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
