John Jacob Astor (1763-1848), Fur Trader, Capitalist. Immigrated to America in 1784 and on his trip met a fellow immigrant who had successfully traded for furs with the Indians. He entered this lucrative business and by 1800 he had amassed a fortune of $250,000. He then made very large purchases of New York real estate. In 1834 he sold all his fur interests and retired to the administration of his twenty-million dollar fortune!!! The following year in 1835 this stock transfer of the Mohawk & Hudson Rail-Road Company, NY was issued to him but not signed. Includes a nice portrait. The condition is Fresh and Mint! Quite Rare!
