Specimen Bond printed by American Bank Note Company. Incorporated in 1937. Following this acquisition, the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation name was phased out in favor of variations of NationalGridUS, such as National Grid Buffalo; however, the official designation on annual reports continues to be Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. In 1929, the Niagara Hudson Power Corporation was formed through the consolidation of 59 predecessor companies. By 1932, an Art Deco-style headquarters was established in Syracuse. The corporation served as the primary provider of electric and natural gas services across a significant portion of northeastern, central, and western New York, including areas such as the Capital District, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls.

Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
