Specimen Stock printed by American Bank Note Company. Ogilvy is a British advertising, marketing, and public relations agency located in New York City. Established in 1850 by Edmund Mather as a London-based firm, it adopted the name Ogilvy & Mather in 1964 following a merger with a New York agency founded in 1948 by David Ogilvy. The agency is a member of the WPP Group global network and offers services across five key areas: growth and innovation, advertising, brand and content, public relations and influence, experience, and health. Additionally, it has a strategy division known as Ogilvy Consulting.

The agency originated in London in 1850 when Edmund Charles Mather launched an advertising business on Fleet Street. By the 1860s, he had established a U.S. branch named Mather & Abbott at 335 Broadway in New York City. Following Mather's passing in 1886, his son, Harley Lawrence Mather, formed a partnership with Herbert Oakes Crowther, leading to the rebranding of the London agency as Mather & Crowther. The agency was a pioneer in newspaper advertising during its early days, capitalizing on relaxed tax regulations, and played a significant role in educating manufacturers about the benefits of advertising while producing instructional manuals for the emerging advertising sector. The company gained significant recognition in the 1920s by creating iconic non-branded advertising campaigns such as 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' and 'Drinka Pinta Milka Day’.
