Oliver Wolcott, Jr.
Oliver Wolcott, Jr. (1760-1833), Lawyer, Connecticut Public Official, Cabinet Officer. Son of Oliver Wolcott who was a Signer of the Declaration. Wolcott Jr. was the 2nd Secretary of the Treasury in George Washington's Cabinet. He succeeded Hamilton as Secretary of the Treasury. Connecticut Governor from 1817 until 1827. He signed this Interest Payment Note in 1789, payable in Shillings, his signature large and dark. The usual hole cancellation does touch part of the signature. Each comes with a portrait. Exceptionally Choice Condition. A Scarce type.
