The company is currently based in Beverly Hills, California. The organizational structure consists of two main business divisions: Media, which oversees content across print, digital, social, mobile, television, and radio platforms, and Licensing, which grants permission to use the Playboy brand, Rabbit Head logo, and other trademarks, logos, and images in relation to consumer products, venues, and events. Presently, Playboy Enterprises, Inc., along with its subsidiaries, is involved in the creation and distribution of content, products, and prominent events that reflect both "eroticism and fine art." The peak sales of Playboy magazine occurred in 1972, exceeding 7 million copies. By 2015, circulation had decreased to 800,000 copies. Currently, more than 40 percent of the company's revenue is generated from its media division, while approximately half of its income is derived from licensing consumer products.

Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
