Specimen Stock printed by American Bank Note Company. Sinton is a city in San Patricio County, Texas, and serves as the county seat. According to the 2010 census, the population was 5,665. The city is named in honor of David Sinton.

From 1948 to 1958, Sinton was home to the Plymouth Oilers, a semiprofessional baseball team sponsored by Plymouth Oil Company. The team employed star college players during the summer, providing them with jobs in the field, gas plant, and office, while experienced players were hired on a permanent basis. By 1950, the Oilers had a 46-game schedule, finishing with a 33-13 record and placing fourth in the National Baseball Congress (NBC) national semipro tournament. In 1951, the Oilers won the state title at Oiler Park before a record crowd of 2,304 and went on to claim the national championship by defeating the Camp Pickett (Virginia) Red Wings and Atwater (California). The team also returned to the nationals in 1952, 1954, 1955, 1956, and 1957, with a second-place finish in 1955. In 1957, the NBC named Sinton the premier city in the nation, per capita, for promoting semipro baseball. However, in the spring of 1958, Plymouth Oil Company ceased its support of the Oilers due to economic conditions, leading to the team's disbandment.
