Specimen Stock printed by Security-Columbian Banknote Company. Reynolds Securities was a prominent brokerage firm founded in 1931 by Richard S. Reynolds, Jr. in New York City, alongside Charles H. Babcock and Thomas F. Staley, who was Reynolds' cousin. The firm grew over the decades, and in 1951, John D. Baker joined as a senior partner, further strengthening its leadership team.

In 1978, Reynolds Securities merged with Dean Witter & Co., creating Dean Witter Reynolds Organization Inc. This merger was the largest in Wall Street history at that time, signaling a significant consolidation in the financial services industry. The combined firm's tagline, "We work for a world of investors. One at a time," evolved into "We measure success one investor at a time," a message that resonated through the Dean Witter brand and continued even after Morgan Stanley acquired Dean Witter. This merger not only expanded the firm's reach but also set the stage for the eventual formation of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, a powerhouse in the financial services sector.

Stock and Bond Specimens are made and usually retained by a printer as a record of the contract with a client, generally with manuscript contract notes such as the quantity printed. Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
