Southern Motor Manufacturing Association, Ltd - Stock Certificate
State(s): Texas
Years: 1920
Whether the Ranger was technically produced as late as 1923 is doubtful although claims were made to that effect at the time. It appears that the Ranger was produced only as a 4 cylinder car although a six had been announced and was ostensibly on the production line. However, despite its advertising claims, the Southern Motor Manufacturing Association was little more than a stock swindle and such cars actually exhibited comprised those built to promote the operation.

The Ranger Four touring car was priced between $1485 and $1850 and powered by an in-house L-head engine, although is is doubtful that this ever reached the prototype stage. Such Ranger cars which remained after several officers had been indicted for fraud were sold at cost as 1923 cars.

Unique “RANGER” tire vignette with wings! Very Rare! Nice! Texas is a very popular state.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
