Specimen Stock printed by American Bank Note Company. Southern Copper Corporation, established in 1952, is a prominent mining enterprise. Its present form can be traced back to the 2005 acquisition of Southern Peru Copper Corporation by Minera México, a Mexican copper producer. As of the proxy statement dated March 27, 2018, Grupo México, a Mexican mining conglomerate, holds an 88.9 percent stake in Southern Copper. According to reserves data from 2007, Southern Copper is recognized as the largest publicly traded copper mining company globally and ranks seventh in terms of copper sales for that year. Furthermore, it is the eighth largest company in copper smelting and is also among the leading global producers of molybdenum, silver, and zinc.
