Henry Pylkowski, who was known in the boxing world as Babe Risko, and Eddie Risko, was a Lithuanian-Polish-American boxer born on July 14, 1911, and who passed away on March 8, 1957. He achieved the title of Middleweight boxing champion of the world during parts of 1935 and 1936. Following a series of five consecutive knockout losses, Risko decided to retire from boxing in 1939, just three years after he had claimed the championship. During World War II, he enlisted in the Navy and later served as a Deputy Sheriff in Onondaga County. Subsequently, he took on the role of sales manager at the U.S. Hoffman Machinery Corporation in New York. Tragically, on March 7, 1957, he died unexpectedly in his sleep at his home in Syracuse at the age of 46, while still employed at the machinery company.
