Zimbabwe - 500 Zimbabwean Million Dollars - P60 - 2009 dated Foreign Paper Money
Inv# FM3124 Foreign Paper Money500 Millon Dollars, P-60. Large denomination!!! The Zimbabwean dollar was the official currency of Zimbabwe across four iterations from 1980 until April 12, 2009. During this period, it experienced severe inflation, eventually escalating into hyperinflation. The Zimbabwean dollar was introduced in 1980, replacing the Rhodesian dollar (introduced in 1970) on a one-to-one basis, with a value similar to the US dollar at the time. Throughout the 20th century, it functioned as a relatively stable currency. However, in the early 21st century, hyperinflation caused the Zimbabwean dollar to plummet, becoming one of the least valuable currencies in the world. The currency was redenominated three times—in 2006, 2008, and 2009—culminating in the issuance of a $100 trillion banknote. The final redenomination introduced the "fourth dollar" (ZWL), which was equal to 10^25 first Zimbabwean dollars (ZWD).
